Job summary

WSP is seeking a Commercial Manager (Rail) to join the PMCM Rail team, delivering complex UK rail and transport programmes. You will support commercial governance, budgeting, procurement and risk management across multi-disciplinary projects.

You’ll work with clients, suppliers, and delivery partners to drive performance from initiation to close-out. The role offers hybrid working across UK offices and project sites, with opportunities to develop expertise in a client-facing environment and

Qualifications

• Degree in Quantity Surveying or related discipline required.
• Professional accreditation or working towards MRICS/MCIOB is advantageous.
• Experience managing commercial aspects of rail/infrastructure projects.
• Client-facing experience and ability to manage stakeholders effectively.
• Knowledge of NEC3/NEC4 contracts preferred.
• Proficiency with commercial management tools/systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships, providing commercial support and advice.
• Prepare monthly commercial, cost and risk reports to support project decision-making.
• Support commercial management activities in line with contractual requirements and client governance.
• Manage project budgets, cost forecasting, tracking and reporting.
• Support procurement activities, including reviewing and negotiating terms with suppliers/contractors.
• Contribute to effective supply chain management and collaboration.
• Review expenditure, invoices and submissions; participate in commercial meetings.
• Administer contracts through the project lifecycle from award to close-out.
• Support change events, variations, claims and compensation events.
• Forecast finances and assist with risk identification and mitigation.

Education

Degree in Quantity Surveying or related discipline

MRICS or MCIOB accreditation (or working towards)

Experience in commercial management within rail/infrastructure

Client-facing experience and stakeholder management

Knowledge of NEC3/NEC4 contracts

Proficiency with commercial management systems and tools
