RAF Benevolent Fund – Communications Trustee

Are you an experienced communications specialist who could help us shape our communications by becoming a trustee?

We are seeking an individual with significant communications experience across multiple platforms, including but not limited to conventional, digital, social media, artificial intelligence, data analytics, branding, and marketing. The initial term of office is four years.

The role is voluntary; however, reasonable out-of-pocket expenses will be paid.

We welcome applications from all candidates who meet the essential criteria for the role as set out in the information pack, irrespective of their background, community, industry, or protected characteristics. We operate safer selection practices, which involve the successful candidate providing references and undergoing a Disclosure and Barring Service check. We reserve the right to close this campaign early if sufficient applications are received. No agencies please.

As the Royal Air Force’s leading welfare charity, we help people put their lives back on track through financial grants to alleviate hardship; mental health support including our Listening and Counselling Service and Telephone Friendship Groups; and practical assistance such as mobility equipment to improve quality of life. Our assistance enables all members of the RAF Family to live safely and independently. We also maintain and preserve both the RAF Memorial and RAF Bomber Command Memorial in London, on behalf of the nation. In 2023, we spent £18.9 million delivering our welfare services, helping over 42,000 serving and former RAF personnel and their families during their time of need. You can find out more about us via our website: rafbf.org

For more information about the role, please see the information pack on our website or contact Lisa Harmshaw, Head of Governance, at 0207 307 3318 or lisa.harmshaw@rafbf.org.uk.

The closing date for applications is 12 midnight on Wednesday, 14 May 2025.

Interviews will be held in late May / early June 2025.
