Qualifications

  • GCSE Maths and English grade 4-9 OR A-C OR Functional Skills level 2 in Numeracy and Literacy
  • Basic IT skills

Responsibilities

  • Provide good quality personalised care in accordance with agreed local and national standards.
  • Take samples from patients for testing or dispatching e.g. Urine, sputum, faeces, swabs, bloods and assist staff with relevant clinical procedures.
  • Assist staff in caring for patients waiting in the department/awaiting admission, undertaking clinical duties relevant to area after competencies are achieved.
  • Assist in maintaining standards of care to improve patient experience and outcomes.
  • Promote equality in care and practice by recognising the needs and choices of individuals.
  • Maintain patient safety and environment to conform with health, safety and security legislation and guidelines.
  • Contribute to a clean, safe and productive care environment.
  • Resolve issues and report outcomes to line manager.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Provide good quality personalised care in accordance with agreed local and national standards.

Take samples from patients for testing or dispatching eg: Urine, sputum, faeces, swabs, bloods, blood sugars and assist staff with appropriate clinical procedures.

Assist staff in caring for patients waiting in the department/awaiting admission, undertaking clinical duties relevant to area following achievement of competencies. Assist in maintaining standards of care to improve patient experience and outcomes. Promote equality in care and practice by recognising the needs and choices of individuals.

Have an overview of the waiting areas to allow monitoring of patients health and safety within the department and the respond to any queries of patients or any care or assistance they may need.

Assist in completing paperwork in areas of the department appropriate that are within competency and assist with on treatment review clinics.

Assist to maintain patient safety, conforming to health, safety and security legislation, policies, procedures and guidelines

Contribute to maintaining safe, clean and productive care environment, compliant with standards for hygiene and cleanliness

Actively try to resolve issues and complaints at local level and then report the outcome to line manager

Qualifications & Education
Essential criteria
  • GCSE Maths and English grade 4-9 OR A-C OR Functional Skills level 2 in Numeracy and Literacy
  • Basic IT skills
Desirable criteria
  • NVQ Level 2 in care or equivalent
Knowledge & Experience
Essential criteria
  • Previous experience of dealing with the public
  • Understanding of concept and application of confidentiality
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience of working in a health care setting
