NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.

Full time (37 hrs) (flexible working hours and part time hours may be considered)

We are looking for a motivated, caring, proactive individual(s) to join our friendly and dedicated radiotherapy team.

The Assistant role includes delivering hands-on care for patients. You will be expected to welcome new and returning patients in a warm and welcoming manner, building rapport as you will see some of them daily for up to 6 weeks.

You will deliver treatment preparation advice, inform patients of procedures, and assist with internal clinic appointments. You will also be required to complete relevant training modules promptly to enable you to take blood samples from patients.

Additionally, you will learn to navigate our IT systems, manage the patient management system, and handle supplies throughout the department.

We are a small, busy department dedicated to high-quality care and service. The Clinical Oncology Department features:

  1. 2 Varian True Beams
  2. Siemens CT Scanner
  3. Mould room
  4. Several clinics

The department provides non-surgical cancer treatments to approximately 260,000 people across Highland, the Western Isles, and part of Grampian. It is one of five cancer centers in Scotland, treating around 700 new patients annually.

The unit offers clinical placements for therapy students from QMU in Edinburgh and GCU in Glasgow.

The Highlands offer an excellent quality of life, with natural beauty and year-round leisure opportunities. Inverness is a modern city with good transport links.
