Band 3 Radiopharmacy Assistant Technical Officer
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Radiopharmacy Assistant Technical Officer within the Radiopharmacy team at the Sutton site of the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust. This is a newly created position to support expansion in service.
The post offers an opportunity for an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual to acquire knowledge working in a cleanroom, and develop their organisational and team working skills. The radiopharmacy works with a range of internal and external customers, procurement, stores and suppliers.

Ideally, the applicant should have NVQ 2 or equivalent qualification. Previous experience in cleanroom work is preferred but not essential. Training will be provided to applicants
It is a requirement of the job that the post holder is available to start work between 05:00 – 08:30 on a rotational basis

2.1 Assist in the maintenance of the Radiopharmacy Cleanroom Suite as defined in Good Manufacturing Practice (Rules and Guidance for Pharmaceutical Manufacturers and Distributors 2017 – ‘The Orange Guide’) and to comply with requirements of our Specials and IMP licenses.
2.2 Become familiar with Standard Operating Procedures and COSHH forms for the Radiopharmacy.
2.3 Complete the in-house training programme and the in-house accreditation programme according to grade and responsibility.
2.4 Gain an in-depth knowledge and skill in the handling of Radiopharmaceuticals.
2.5 Assemble and spray and wipe products using aseptic technique in a grade A environment.
2.6 Dispense, label and assist in the distribution of Radiopharmaceuticals to couriers and internal teams.
2.7 Pack Radioactive Transport Boxes ready for handover to couriers.
2.8 Dispose of Radiopharmacy waste appropriately according to SOP.
2.9 Cleaning of the Radiopharmacy Cleanroom Suite and equipment as required (all staff).
2.10 Occasionally to participate with early shifts as required to meet service provisions.
2.11 Liaise with the clinical trial team on the manufacturing requirements of clinical trial products.
2.12 Contribute to the development and transfer of new Radiopharmaceuticals into the manufacturing process.

Flu Vaccination – What We Expect of our Staff
At The Royal Marsden we have an immune compromised patient population who we must protect as much as we can against the flu virus. Each year, seasonal flu affects thousands of people in the UK. Occurring mainly in winter, it is an infectious respiratory disease capable of producing symptoms ranging from those similar to a common cold, through to very severe or even fatal disease.
The wellbeing of our staff and patients is of the upmost importance to us, and it is the expectation of The Royal Marsden that all patient-facing staff have an annual flu vaccination, provided free of charge by the Trust.
