Overview

Job summary: An exciting opportunity in the Imaging Department in Walsall to cover the role of a Radiology Service Manager. The post holder will be responsible for the operational management, leadership and coordination of the daily activities and planning of Radiology services to ensure the delivery of a high-quality responsive service which meets the needs of the Trust and the Community. Walsall is a large market town located in the Black Country and within easy reach of Birmingham and rural Staffordshire. Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust provides acute and community services and is part of Walsall Together, focusing on compassionate care for patients and communities.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the operational management, leadership and coordination of the daily activities and planning of Radiology services to ensure a high-quality, responsive service that meets the needs of the Trust and the Community.
  • Manage the budget and physical resources within Imaging and respond to unpredictable workloads and patterns.
  • Promote Trust values and ensure adherence to policies and procedures. Responsible for the operational management and strategic planning of the Radiology Service Line, accountable to the Divisional Director.
  • Oversee IR(ME)R and IRR regulations to ensure safe use of ionising radiation and protection of patients.
  • Chair and oversee Radiation Safety Policies and procedures, ensuring robust governance and assurance to the Trust Board.
  • Provide clinical governance to ensure a safe and effective service, deliver service performance indicators and national targets; work with AHP leads to raise the profile of AHPs and drive service improvements.
  • Provide expertise on all imaging modalities with up-to-date knowledge of imaging equipment.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

  • BSc or DCR in Diagnostic Radiography
  • Master's qualification in a relevant discipline or equivalent level of training/experience
  • HCPC registration
Experience
  • Significant experience in staff management, including recruitment & retention, performance management and disciplinary procedures
  • Experience of operational budgetary control, ordering and procurement processes
  • Understanding of patient experience agenda with ability to use data to improve patient experience
Knowledge and Skills
  • Experience of successful change management and service redesign
  • Understanding of performance management for the specialty
  • Understanding of monitoring frameworks and NHS reporting obligations
  • Experience in clinical governance, risk management and service improvement
