Job description

Job Title: Radiology Healthcare Assistant

One Ashford Hospital in Kent offers a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Radiology Healthcare Assistant to join our diagnostic imaging team.

Role Overview

Reporting to the Diagnostic Imaging Manager, the successful candidate will assist radiographers and consultant radiologists with radiological procedures, adhering to national guidelines, hospital policies, and best practices. The role also involves administrative duties related to ultrasound services.

Working Hours

37.5 hours per week, with shifts between 8 am and 8 pm, Monday to Friday.

Responsibilities
  1. Assist patients throughout their time in the Imaging department and prepare patients for their appointments.
  2. Support Radiographers in maintaining an efficient workflow and daily work list.
  3. Help Radiologists perform radiological examinations, prepare examination rooms following clinical guidelines, and ensure safe practices.
  4. Verify all documentation is complete and accurate before procedures.
  5. Use Patient Administration Systems to organize daily schedules.
  6. Coordinate with the appointments team to optimize session usage.
  7. Inform patients before, during, and after examinations about procedures and result collection.
  8. Assist with administrative tasks such as booking ultrasound lists and stock management.
Qualifications
  • Minimum GCSE education or equivalent.
  • NVQ Level 2/3 in Health & Social Care or equivalent preferred.
Experience
  • At least 1 year of experience in a clinical healthcare setting.
  • Willingness to learn and undertake relevant training.
Skills
  • Patient-focused with high customer care standards.
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing needs.
  • Basic computer skills, familiar with MS Office.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and commitment to patient safety.
  • Experience in private healthcare and radiology preferred.
