Job description

The Radiology Department in Bryn Beryl Hospital is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated individual to the role of Radiology Clinical Support Worker.

This role will primarily involve administrative tasks on the reception desk as a receptionist, as well as elements of direct patient care.

Successful applications must have excellent caring attributes, be capable of working within a team and on their own, and have good interpersonal skills and be able to show initiative.

The role is 10hrs per week, 5 hrs every Wednesday and Thursday. The ability to speak Welsh is essential for this role.

Main duties of the job

The main duty of this role is reception work - meeting and greeting patients on their arrival, booking the patients in for their examination, booking appointments, answering the telephone and all aspects associated with the role of a receptionist.

You may also be required to assist the Radiographer by carrying out non-radiographic duties which include the care, preparation and management of patients presenting for radiological procedures, preparation of equipment, ordering of equipment via the online procurement system, and the processing of images as required.

The ability to speak Welsh is essential for this post.

Job responsibilities
  • Meet and receive patients on arrival, checking patient identification in accordance with legislative requirements, make patients comfortable and ensure that they have an understanding of events during their visit.
  • Assist with clerical duties whilst ensuring patient/examination details are entered accurately onto the Radiology Management System prior to examinations being undertaken.
  • Accompany patients and/or dependants within the department or any other areas in the hospital as required.
  • Care for the patients needs and attend to their welfare in accordance with safe working practice.
  • Assist the radiographer to transfer and position patients and equipment using appropriate manual handling techniques.
  • Process/erase imaging cassettes on PACS and transfer of images to CDs as and when required.
  • Ensure that examination rooms are kept clean, tidy and appropriately stocked in the area of duty.
  • Comply with the Data Protection Act, Access to Health Records Act and legislation issued in relation to confidential data at all times.
  • Liaise with nursing and portering staff to assist in the provision of an efficient patient centred service, e.g. patient preparation for radiological examinations and patient transfer arrangements.
