Job description

Are you a caring, enthusiastic and hard working person looking to make a big impact? We are looking for dedicated and caring Radiology Department assistants to support our brand new, state of the art Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) at Milford, Surrey.

This is a patient focused role. You will assist out-patients during their time in the radiology department from transferring the patients to and from the departments, greeting them on arrival, assisting with their preparation for the examinations, and helping to provide a pleasant experience.

You will also take on some admin roles which may include, booking patients in for the appointment, stock management and room preparation for both CT and MRI examinations. Training for all will be provided.

You will be expected to complete a Care Certificate Induction for your first two weeks in order to bring you up to speed regarding what is required for you in the position. This take up to two weeks (dependent on previous experience.) After a settling in period, you will be offered the opportunity to complete a cannulation course, which will allow you to progress to a band 3 position once competence has been confirmed.

There may be opportunity for you to rotate to our Ultrasound and X-ray department on the Milford site if you so wish once full CDC training is completed. The unit is open 7 days a week from 8am until 8pm so we are looking for staff that would be able to work 3 or 4 long days.

Main duties of the job

This roles provides support to the department in providing patient focused, efficient service in a caring, professional and timely manner.

The post holder will support the provision of a high quality diagnostic service to patients, visitors and staff within the Radiology Department. They will facilitate an efficient work flow between the scanner and support in an admin position where required.

The post holder will provide an efficient and friendly service or patients undergoing Radiology examinations and provide any administrative support required, to ensure that the unit is running efficiently. They will assist with patient and room preparation, perform admin role and support the Radiographers where required. This post works closely and efficiently with the radiology team.

Please note, this role will start as a band 2 position and be up-banded to band 3 once competency for cannulation and completion of the Care Certificate have been completed .

Job responsibilities

In liaison with the superintendent radiographers and the diagnostic radiography department assistants, provide an efficient service for all RSCH trust patients who require specialist CT, MRI and eventually may also support X-Ray and Ultrasound investigations. To provide an efficient and friendly support service for patients and provide assistance in transferring the patients. You will be part of the team responsible for maintaining the high standard of cleanliness within the area of work. Maintain adequate level of consumables and maintain the stock for smooth running of the department. Take responsibility to ensure the contrast warmer is loaded.
