Job description

The Derby/Burton Breast Unit is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Imaging Department Assistant to join the Breast Service hosted by UHDB (United Hospitals of Derby and Burton), working across all sites.

We are a progressive, forward-thinking department with a positive approach to meeting the current challenges of the NHS. You will join a team of Breast Service staff and Radiographers to provide symptomatic clinics and a screening service as part of the NBSS (National Breast Screening Service), covering South East Staffordshire and Southern Derbyshire.

Responsibilities include:
  1. Assist with running clinics, ensuring patient flow is organized and efficient.
  2. Provide chaperone duties during clinical examinations.
  3. Assist clinicians during biopsies, ultrasound, drainages, and other procedures.
  4. Ensure clinic paperwork is correctly completed and filed in the patient record.
  5. Maintain proper stock levels in clinic rooms.
  6. Support the community breast pain service at various locations.

The Radiographic Assistant role is fundamental to our ability to make a difference for our patients. They often serve as the first point of contact, either face-to-face or by phone, making good communication skills essential.

The successful candidate will work alongside our multi-professional team, assisting in clinics and supporting diagnostic and surgical consultants in ultrasound and outpatient rooms. They will also support our award-winning Breast Pain service in the community.
