We are looking for an enthusiastic Radiographer to join our friendly team, to undertake a variety of plain film, dental, fluoroscopy, mobile and theatre examinations efficiently and effectively for our patients, adhering to best practice of radiographic technique.

Working within the Radiology department at FGH provides excellent opportunities to gain experience in a wide range of imaging procedures including trauma, MSK, paediatrics and oncology. The department is equipped with a Siemens DR room and a Phillips DR room as well as 2 Phillips DR mobiles, two GE image intensifiers and a brand new GE fluoroscopy suite.

The department carries out a full range of investigations, including MR, CT, US and SPECT Imaging. PACS was installed in April 2007 and updated in 2017.

Applications from final year students would also be welcome.

This is a progressive directorate that supports CPD and role development.

Main duties of the job

To be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of their professional and clinical work. To assess the physical, mental, emotional or spiritual needs of the patient, and adjust technique accordingly. Must be able to adapt protocols, procedures and techniques according to the patient's clinical condition. To ensure patients understand what examination they are having and gain valid informed consent. This must include patients who have difficulties in understanding or communicating (deaf, blind etc). To input data accurately into the Radiology Information System. To ensure the information held on the hospital Information system is correct and amend as required. Ensure all examinations and work practices are carried out in a professional and appropriate manner.

To provide a written comment on the appearances seen on an x-ray, as an aid to the requesting casualty officer—not to be responsible for diagnosis.

All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay. Our community services for adults are provided in people's homes, community centres, clinics, GP Practices, community hospitals and our main hospitals. Our aim is to work with people to help them remain independent, improve their health and manage their conditions through high quality care, advice and support.
