The MRI department currently consists of nine MRI scanners, three located on the NNUH site, close to the city centre (2 x Siemens Sola 1.5T, 1 x GE Premier 3T), one at Cromer District Hospital (CDH) (1 x GE Artist 1.5T) by the North Norfolk coast along with five at the newly opened Community Diagnostic Centre (1 x Siemens Lumina 3T, 1 x Siemens Sola 1.5T and 3 x Siemens Altea 1.5T).
The department has an active and expanding MRI research profile, supporting the University of East Anglia (UEA) and across the Norwich Research Park as well as national and international research groups through the provision of dedicated research and clinical trial capacity.
The Trust is Head of the Clinical Research Network for the Eastern Region and has one of the three national Radiology Academies.
Applicants will contribute and work within the MRI Team to deliver high quality diagnostic imaging to all service users, ensuring clinical safety and facilitating a high standard of patient care. The post requires a flexible and enthusiastic radiographer to work 12.5-hour shifts (including bank holidays and weekends) along with providing an on-call MRI service. The Trust has a flexible working policy.

- Take part in the training of undergraduates, postgraduates, including medical staff, medical students, Assistant Practitioners and radiographic assistants in MRI. Where necessary organising their training sessions, induction and providing tutorials. Act as a clinical supervisor and/or assessor when appointed to this role.
- Management of the day to day working of the department and take responsibility for their own work area, prioritising own workload incorporating the training needs of other staff. This will include rearranging staff at short notice when necessary. Be responsible for arranging the workload of the MRI Department, including prioritising inpatient workload based on clinical priority.
- Communicate effectively with the Modality Team Lead, Consultant Radiologists, clinical staff and radiology assistant staff regarding operational and clinical issues.
- To demonstrate a specialist skill in adapting technique to achieve high quality diagnostic products in patients whose condition would otherwise prevent this, without compromising care, this involves frequent dealing with patients who are in pain and distress.
- Perform MRI examinations either in person or as part of the team, maintaining high professional standards and supporting and monitoring the quality standards of the directorate. This will include the cannulation of patients and the use of the MRI Injector to inject contrast media.
