Job summary

The Beardwood Hospital, part of Circle Health Group, is seeking a Radiographer for a bank role to join the Imaging department in Blackburn. The position is on an 'as and when required' basis, covering busy periods and staff leave.

Applicants should hold a BSc (Hons) in Diagnostic Radiography, be HCPC registered, and have MRI experience. You will perform radiographic procedures, ensure high-quality imaging, and work closely with the care team.

Qualifications

• BSc (Hons) in Diagnostic Radiography or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum 2 years MRI experience.
• HCPC registration as a Diagnostic Radiographer.
• Experience in general radiographic techniques and equipment.
• Good understanding of IR(ME)R, health & safety, infection control, and patient confidentiality requirements.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient-centred approach.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Postgraduate experience or additional training in a specialist area desirable (e.g., CT, MRI, theatre imaging, mammography).

Responsibilities

• Perform a wide range of diagnostic radiographic procedures following referral.
• Ensure high-quality images to support accurate diagnosis and minimise repeats.
• Adapt techniques for paediatrics, bariatrics, and patients with limited mobility.
• Provide a safe, dignified, and patient-centred service.
• Monitor patients’ conditions during procedures and respond to deterioration.
• Assist in the implementation and use of new imaging technologies (PACS, RIS).
• Work with radiologists, consultants, nurses, porters and admin teams to coordinate care.

We have an opportunity for a Radiographer to join their team of staff in theImagingdepartment.

This is a bank role working on an “as and when required” basis, you will be required to supplement staffing levels during busy periods and provide cover for existing staff in times of annual leave or absence.

Duties of this role include:

• Perform a wide range of diagnostic radiographic procedures (e.g., general X-rays, theatre, fluoroscopy, mobiles) following referral and imaging protocols.
• Ensure high-quality images are produced to support accurate diagnosis, minimising the need for repeat exposures.
• Adapt techniques to meet the needs of individual patients, including paediatrics, bariatrics, and patients with limited mobility.
• Provide a safe, dignified, and person-centred service, ensuring patients are informed, comfortable, and reassured throughout their examination.
• Monitor patients’ conditions during procedures and respond appropriately to any signs of deterioration.
• Ensure equipment is checked, maintained, and used safely and effectively, reporting faults promptly.
• Assist in the implementation and use of new imaging technologies, techniques, and digital systems (e.g., PACS, RIS).
• Work closely with radiologists, consultants, nurses, porters, and admin teams to coordinate care efficiently and maintain smooth patient pathways.
