Job description

Job Summary

Due to service expansion and redesign, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a fixed-term (until 31.10.26) Radiographer to work predominantly in CT and based at South Tyneside District Hospital, although cross-site working is actively encouraged.

South Tyneside District Hospital has recently installed a 128-slice Siemens go.Top, and also has a 64 slice Siemens go.All. Both are used for a range of in-patient and out-patient CT examinations, including biopsies, colonography studies and cardiac investigations. In addition, the Department has four dedicated X-ray rooms, two fluoroscopy and interventional rooms, and a peripheral site providing plain film imaging.

Sunderland Royal Hospital has undergone an exciting redevelopment of the Emergency Department, to provide a cutting-edge environment for patient care, diagnosis and treatment. Within the Diagnostic Hub of the Emergency Department is a state-of-the-art Canon Genesis CT scanner, this 320-slice scanner allows for rapid diagnosis for ED and acutely-unwell patients. There are two additional Canon scanners within Radiology that are used for an extensive range of in-patient and out-patient CT examinations, including biopsies, percutaneous cryotherapy, colonography studies and cardiac investigations.

Main duties of the job

Both sites have forward-thinking, dynamic teams who offer experience and support. We strive to offer professional development opportunities; recent examples include the Post-graduate Certificate in Computed Tomography, and Post-graduate Certificate in Forensic Imaging.
