Job summary

Colten Care is seeking an Army Radiographer who will help keep soldiers and their families fit and healthy by performing scans and X-rays. You will be trained as both a radiographer and a soldier, with initial army training and a funded degree path.

You’ll train at Pirbright or Winchester, then study a 3-year BSc (Hons) Diagnostic Radiography at Birmingham City University and join a Defence Medical Group Hospital, with opportunities to advance and to sponsor civilian-recognised qualifications.

Qualifications

• STUDENT: Five GCSEs Grade A–C/9-4 in English Language, Maths and two sciences; 120 UCAS Points; you must pass Army Radiography selection.

Responsibilities

Radiographer

Full-time
As an Army Radiographer, you’ll help to keep our soldiers and their families fit and healthy by carrying out scans and x-rays using modern medical equipment. You'll work in a range of environments, from large medical centres on Army bases and in intensive care units or emergency departments to field hospitals on operations abroad. You don't need to have a background in medicine – we’ll fund your professional training and teach you everything you need to know about being a radiographer and a soldier.

WORLD-CLASS TRAINING

If you want to be a Radiographer, you'll start with your initial military training which will teach you how to be a soldier - this will cover everything from fieldcraft to how to handle a rifle. Your initial training will be at either Pirbright or Winchester and last for 14 weeks.

You'll then take a three-year BSc (Hons) Diagnostic Radiography degree at Birmingham City University. You will also be assigned to a Defence Medical Group Hospital where you will put your classroom-based learning to good, practical use. If you are already qualified as a Radiographer, you'll move straight to your new role with your unit.

Army Radiographers have the potential to gain postgraduate qualifications throughout their career in areas such as Computed Tomography.

Qualifications you’ll need:

• Mid-Thigh Pull 46kg
• Medicine Ball Throw 2.9m
• 2km run 11m 15s (11m30s for Junior Entry)
