R&D Technologist - Cambridge, UK - 12-Month Contract

Our client, a leading partner to pharmaceutical, biotech, and nutrition markets, has an exciting opening for an R&D Technologist for their new Capex investment project. As a scientific and technology innovator, this is a superb opportunity to join a team committed to making strides towards a healthier world for all.

Responsibilities:

  1. Focus on laboratory work, primarily generating new plasmids for expressing complex biological molecules.
  2. Perform DNA sequencing processing and assessment.
  3. Culture mammalian cell lines in flasks and small-scale bioreactors; perform analytical procedures such as high-throughput protein quantification, and prepare media and feeds from basal components.
  4. Write high-quality reports and present findings to the R&D team.
  5. Maintain electronic laboratory notebooks to a high standard and contribute to routine maintenance of laboratory space and equipment.
  6. Be confident with computers and willing to learn automation techniques.
  7. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Education - Required: BSc or MSc in Biological/Biomedical Sciences, Biotechnology, or Biochemistry.
  • Work Experience:
  • Entry Level: Focus on molecular biology and mammalian cell culture.
  • Basic working knowledge of core molecular biology techniques is required.
  • Practical experience in molecular biology and mammalian cell culture techniques is preferable.
