The opportunity
An exciting opportunity to work in EY’s Global Grants Credits & Incentives team based in our central London office, alongside other STEM professionals, as well as tax and accounting colleagues.
As an IT / Software Consultant, you will work with clients across the Financial Services sector, developing cutting-edge technology to support the UK’s leadership in research and development investment.
You will join a diverse team of industry and tax specialists, conducting interviews with senior technical personnel to identify qualifying R&D activities, writing reports on client projects, and engaging in client communication. Opportunities for supporting business development and cross-sector claims are also available.
Your key responsibilities
- Collaborate effectively within project teams, demonstrating strong communication skills
- Write technical reports highlighting key technical aspects of client projects for R&D tax claims
- Engage with clients’ senior technical staff to understand projects and identify R&D qualifying aspects
- Apply problem-solving and critical thinking skills to project delivery
- Build and maintain strong client relationships
- Support client meetings and deliver high-quality advice, managing risks
- Adapt and expand knowledge across different sectors

- Interest in software technologies and programming languages
- Experience with software projects and understanding technological limitations
- Ability to quickly grasp new software concepts and discuss them in-depth
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

- Interest in project management and tax applications
To qualify for the role, you must have
- Computer Science or Software Development experience, ideally industry-based
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- Flexibility to learn and adapt quickly
Ideally, you’ll also have
- Experience in R&D tax or industry experience (advantageous but not required)
