R&D Tax - IT Manager

Job description

This is an exciting opportunity for an established R&D advisor from a software engineering background to develop their career as an R&D IT Manager for the Financial Services sector.

We are looking for an experienced and dynamic Manager with a good knowledge of the UK R&D scheme who has experience in supporting companies in making R&D claims related to software development.

Your key responsibilities

1. Project managing the delivery of a caseload of R&D claims covering a range of businesses from small to very large and complex.
2. Undertaking detailed technical discussions with clients to explain the meaning of R&D for tax purposes and help the client understand what elements of work done would meet the criteria.
3. Preparation and review of technical documents explaining the R&D activities undertaken on client projects based on information gathered.
4. Providing coaching and training to junior team members.
5. Involvement in business development, identifying and winning new opportunities.
6. Assisting in engaging with HMRC to conclude R&D questions.

Skills and attributes for success

1. R&D experience 2 years +
2. IT industry experience – role as software developer or engineer, 5 years +
3. Experience in the Financial Services sector would be beneficial.
4. Ability to pick-up new technologies quickly, and be comfortable learning new skills as technology for preparing claims continues to evolve.
5. Strong writing skills and good attention to detail.
6. Strong communication skills and confidence in public speaking.
7. Highly motivated self-starter, with a proven track record in taking initiatives, whilst also having a collaborative and team building attitude.
