KPMG's Incentives, Reliefs & Innovations team is made up of tax, engineering, science, and technology specialists delivering expert advice to a broad range of clients across almost every industry sector. We are seeking an Assistant Manager with a strong information technology background to assist clients with innovation advisory services including R&D tax credits, Patent Box, R&D Allowances, Grants, and Innovation Advisory services.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Develop technical approaches and deliver R&D tax relief claims for submission to HMRC, managing the delivery process.
  • Lead or co-lead meetings with senior IT technical and financial client stakeholders; provide expert advice on innovation services.
  • Write detailed technical reports to support R&D tax claims, reviewing reports by junior colleagues.
  • Prepare and manage technical and financial client deliverables, ensuring accurate documentation for HMRC and funding organizations.
  • Assist in managing client projects across tax and technical work streams, resolving resource conflicts.
  • Lead projects and advise clients on applying complex legislation, liaising with HMRC specialists.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships and internal networks.
  • Ensure high-quality advice delivery, managing risks, and coaching junior staff.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Honours/Post Graduate Degree in Information Technology or related discipline.
  • Significant industry experience or detailed working knowledge of R&D tax legislation related to IT activities.
  • Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills.
