S&W, a leading UK accountancy firm based in London, seeks a Tax Research and Development Assistant Manager to drive R&D tax projects for IT/software clients and manage a talented team. You will deliver high-quality outputs, stay abreast of UK tax changes, and contribute to innovative service offerings.

In this role you will mentor junior colleagues, liaise with HMRC when needed, and ensure rigorous quality standards across engagements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, technology or related field.
• Proven experience in tax research and development.
• Strong project and people management skills.
• Solid knowledge of UK tax laws, especially R&D tax credits.
• Familiarity with HMRC guidelines.
• Proficiency with tax research databases/software.
• Strong analytical and communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate tax research projects focusing on R&D incentives.
• Analyse complex tax issues and deliver well-reasoned solutions to clients and team.
• Stay updated on UK tax legislation and R&D credit changes.
• Mentor junior team members and oversee their work.
• Liaise with HMRC and other bodies when needed.
• Prepare and review technical reports and client presentations.
• Help develop new R&D tax service offerings and methodologies.
• Collaborate with other departments to provide comprehensive tax solutions.
• Ensure adherence to internal quality controls and standards.
