Job summary

IQM Quantum Computers is opening an R&D site in Edinburgh, UK, and this is the first hire. You’ll build a team, set up ways of working, and lead hybrid quantum-classical initiatives at the interface of IQM systems and HPC environments.

You’ll report to a VP in Quantum Systems, lead team leads as the site grows, and drive delivery, governance, and collaboration with the UK HPC centre and QEC partner across projects.

Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent research depth in a relevant field.
• 5+ years leading R&D teams, including building from scratch.
• Experience with quantum error correction or quantum hardware.
• Strong ability to explain complex work to varied audiences.

Responsibilities

• Build the Edinburgh site from zero, set up ways of working, tools, IT and access.
• Lead hands-on technical work integrating IQM systems with HPC environments.
• Own the R&D partnership with the UK HPC centre and QEC partner, incl. governance.
• Manage IP collaboration, publications, and know-how transfer per agreements.
• Own the program delivery, budget, milestones and reporting to stakeholders.
