Job summary

83Zero Ltd in Peterborough is seeking an experienced R&D / Test Technician to join an advanced power systems team. This hands-on role covers powertrain development, including E-motor testing, hybrid systems and test bed activities.

You will build, strip, test, diagnose faults and review results with engineers, following drawings and plans. 37 hours per week, £26.92 per hour, on-site, 12-month contract, Inside IR35.

Qualifications

• Modern Apprenticeship completed in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
• 2–3 years hands-on experience after apprenticeship
• Experience in mechanical fitting, electrical/electronic systems, fault finding and diagnostics
• Ability to build, strip, repair and test powertrain components
• Follow engineering drawings, test plans and data logging procedures

Responsibilities

• Carry out build, strip, measurement and rebuild activities on powertrain components
• Support engine, transmission, hybrid and electric motor testing
• Operate test beds and diagnostic equipment
• Perform electrical safety checks and work with HV systems
• Diagnose faults and support repair and problem solving
• Record measurements, test results and technical issues
• Work from engineering instructions, drawings and test plans
• Support engineers with data analysis and technical investigations
• Raise issues around build and test activities and drive improvements
• Collaborate with internal teams to meet testing timescales
