AkzoNobel invites applications for a 1-year R&D Industrial Placement in Marine Coating and Biofouling Hydrodynamics, based at our development laboratories in Felling, Gateshead. You will join the Hydrodynamics and Marine Biology team to gain practical lab experience and contribute to advanced testing and analysis.

This placement is ideal for a Marine Science and Technology student taking a Year in Industry, offering hands-on experiments, data interpretation and collaboration with researchers

Formación

• Pursuing Marine Science and Technology degree with Year in Industry option.
• Lab experience is beneficial.
• Understanding of fluid dynamics beneficial.
• Strong programming skills in Python or MATLAB.
• Good procedural discipline and safety.

Responsabilidades

• Support hydrodynamic testing and evaluation of coatings within specialist facilities.
• Conduct experiments to understand coatings and biofouling impact on drag.
• Collaborate with analysts, marine biologists and chemists to support project delivery.
• Analyze data to understand coating selection impact on vessel performance.
• Apply academic theory in a commercial research environment.
• Follow SOPs to complete projects on schedule.
• Write basic technical reports and present findings.
• Participate in training covering equipment and techniques.
• Operate safely and contribute to a positive lab culture.
