At Abbott Diabetes Care Witney, we develop and manufacture technologies used in managing diabetes, including the next-generation sensor technology in the revolutionary FreeStyle Libre Flash Glucose Monitoring system. We are expanding and have exciting opportunities for those eager to start a laboratory-based career in Product Development.

We are seeking a keen, enthusiastic, and driven individual who wants to begin their career in Product Development through an apprenticeship within our R&D Laboratories. Successful candidates will start their R&D Laboratory Apprenticeship Level 3 in September 2025.

Your program will combine work-based learning in our R&D Department in Witney with academic learning through our training provider. You will develop essential laboratory skills and techniques, support sensor prototype builds, and assist with novel test requirements. Responsibilities include routine laboratory activities such as equipment maintenance, cleaning, solution preparation, implementation of Good Lab and Manufacturing Practices, among others. You will work within the R&D sensor line and testing laboratory, gaining experience in a Quality and EHS regulated environment.

As an apprentice at Abbott, you will receive ongoing career development support, including additional qualifications where relevant. Upon successful completion, you will be matched with a role aligned with your skills and interests and the company's needs.

Requirements:
  • A recognized standard of education up to GCSE level
  • A good standard of education with a focus on mathematical and scientific subjects
  • A keen interest in Product Development laboratory work and a passion for working in the industry
