Job description

We are seeking an individual who is passionate about electrical and electronic systems. Do you thrive in a dynamic environment where innovation and precision are key? We're looking for a skilled professional to support our Research & Development department.

You'll work closely with our R&D and NDT Manager, R&D Electrical Engineer, plus other team members to provide support for all electrical and electronic requirements in the Research & Development areas and more.

Main Duties:

  • Build complex and challenging electrical wiring harnesses to exacting standards utilising Raychem System 25 standards and processes.
  • Build LV/HV assemblies and enclosures.
  • Understand basic electrical architecture & drawings, feeding back any possible improvements to the engineering team.
  • Perform end of line harness test procedures such as continuity, isolation and resistive tests.
  • Assemble, maintain, installation and service of department harnessing, communications (CAN, Ethernet etc), test rig interfaces and controllers.
  • Sensor termination, calibration and maintenance, including strain gauging, TEDS (IEEE 1451.4) etc.
  • Carry out tasks involving hazardous voltage equipment, including 3 phase AC, DC and earthing connections.
  • System troubleshooting/diagnosis of faults.
  • Specifying and working with electric motors/dyno absorbers (asynchronous, PMM/PCM’s etc).
  • Critically evaluate all components during assembly and disassembly, ensuring their integrity and reporting of all faults.
  • Carry out pass-off tests including environmental process testing as required.
  • Ensure that all build and component information is recorded and maintained as required in relevant systems.
  • Assist with test cell electrical safety sign off.
  • Developing R&D expertise in electronics and electrical systems, keeping up to date with latest technologies.
  • Assist with identification of ways to improve the overall department performance.
  • Managing the department electrical/electronics equipment and stock.
  • To carry out the above tasks and assist with all aspects of the activities within the Research & Development department when required to do so.

Qualifications:

  • Electrical apprenticeship or training (IPC-A-620 standard or similar).
  • Experience within aerospace or motorsports, preferably F1.
  • Experience with high voltage systems.
  • Microsoft Office skills.
