Job summary

Huawei Technologies Research & Development UK Ltd invites applications for an R&D Collaboration Coordinator with experience in opto-electronic devices and telecom applications. You will shape strategy for external partnerships with academia and industry, focusing on photonics, IP licensing, and MOUs.

The role includes evaluating technological evolution, scouting European research, negotiating collaboration agreements, and driving external projects across the R&D portfolio.

Qualifications

• Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or a related field.
• Understanding of semiconductor physics, optoelectronic device design and fabrication (LEDs, Lasers, Photodetectors, Modulators), photonic integrated circuits (PICs), or Electronic integrated circuits (EICs).
• Understanding of optoelectronic devices in ICT domain, especially in the AI computing applications.
• Ability to manage multiple cross-functional works, ensuring clear communication with external partners/customers, tracking and reporting to technology planning team/ R&D director.
• A 'Can-Do' Attitude, solution-oriented mindset with the grit to overcome challenges and drive collaboration to completion, in compliance with laws and regulations.
• A proactive, self-starter approach with the resilience to navigate high-risk, high-reward collaboration business development.

Responsibilities

• Develop a strategy for Huawei Ipswich Office activities.
• Identify and build long-term relationships with European leading researchers and university faculty in fields such as photonics and advanced semiconductor materials.
• Scout the European photonics landscape for disruptive technologies to identify collaborations with universities or startups.
• Lead the negotiation and execution of collaboration agreements including MOUs and IP licensing.
• Plan and execute industry summits, workshops, and other R&D events, coordinating internal and external stakeholders.
• Produce insight reports on academic and industry developments in key research areas.
