Job summary

CooperVision is seeking a proactive R&D Chemistry Technician in Southampton to support the execution of research projects, including preparation of materials, testing, and data collection. This role contributes to developing contact lens materials and processes while ensuring quality, safety and regulatory compliance.

You will work onsite in The Vision Centre, 37.5 hours per week, and collaborate with the R&D team to drive project delivery and continuous improvement within a global company.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years’ experience in a laboratory or high-volume manufacturing environment at Technician/Operator Level.
• Contact lens laboratory or manufacturing experience preferred.
• Experience following SOPs and Work Instructions accurately.
• Willingness to learn new laboratory techniques and test methods.
• Good literacy, numeracy and communication skills with attention to detail.
• Self-motivated with ability to work independently and in a team.
• Strong organisational and time management skills.

Responsibilities

• Follow SOPs, work instructions and laboratory safety requirements.
• Prepare monomer mixtures, solutions and test materials per procedures.
• Perform material and metrology testing of contact lens materials and products.
• Accurately record and communicate experimental data and observations.
• Maintain laboratory equipment and report issues.
• Support project teams with timely execution of experiments.
• Collaborate with R&D colleagues to support project delivery.
• Maintain laboratory housekeeping and stock control.
