Job summary

Breedon Group plc is seeking a Quarry Supervisor to support the Quarry Manager in the safe and efficient operation of Raisby Quarry & Concrete Plant in Durham. You will help manage production and extraction activities on site.

The role requires hands-on leadership, strong safety culture, and the ability to coordinate with maintenance, planning and site teams to deliver reliable throughput and high standards of workmanship.

Qualifications

• Background in the extractive industry, with understanding of the extractive process and safety focus.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work with site teams and management.
• Ability to manage documentation, risk assessments, and safety inspections.

Responsibilities

• Safety will comprise a key element of the role; conduct risk assessments and safety inspections.
• Administrative duties including writing reports, updating records, procurement, and budget control.
• Plan and organise work efficiently to meet production targets.
• Oversee production and extraction activities, troubleshooting technical problems and coordinating day-to-day operations with other site departments.
• Contribute to the company’s zero harm culture and safety standards.

We are currently seeking a Quarry Supervisor to join the team.

The primary duty for this role will be to support the Quarry Manager with the safe and efficient management and operation of the Quarry.

You will support the management of production and extraction activities, troubleshooting technical problems and overseeing planning of day-to-day operations in conjunction with other departments across site.

Key Responsibilities

• Safety will comprise a key element of the role. You will also be required to conduct risk assessments and health and safety inspections and to demonstrate leadership in safety.
• An important element of the role will involve administrative duties, from writing reports and updating records to procurement and budget control.
• An ability to plan and organise work in a time efficient fashion is critical.
• The ideal candidate will have background in the extractive industry, be familiar with the extractive process with a strong focus on safety and interpersonal skills.
