Job summary

Breedon Group is seeking a Quarry Operative to assist in the extraction and processing of aggregates in Leyburn. The ideal candidate will have competence in operating heavy machinery and a strong understanding of health and safety practices.

Responsibilities include operating mobile and fixed plant safely, performing maintenance tasks, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. The role offers a competitive salary, a company pension scheme, and various employee benefits.

Qualifications

• Competence in operating plant or machinery (loading shovel, excavator, dumper truck) – CPCS or MPQC card advantageous.
• Basic mechanical knowledge and ability to perform simple maintenance tasks.
• Understanding of health and safety practices and willingness to follow procedures.

Responsibilities

• Operate mobile and fixed plant in a safe and efficient manner.
• Assist in the extraction, crushing, and processing of raw materials.
• Carry out routine checks, cleaning, and basic maintenance on machinery.

Skills

Competence in operating plant or machinery

Basic mechanical knowledge

Understanding of health and safety practices

Good communication and teamwork skills

Education

MPQC or NVQ Level 2 in Extractives Operations
