Purpose of the Role

The primary responsibilities are to ensure the efficient and safe operation of the quarry daily, including the safe use of mobile plant and effective running of the static crushing plant to meet daily production demands supporting Padeswood Cement works' Raw Feed requirements.

You should be self-motivated, enthusiastic, and possess good communication and organizational skills to support other team members in this fast-moving quarrying operation.

All tasks must be undertaken in line with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, Quarry Regulations 1999, and company policies, with a focus on health and safety, quality, and environmental procedures. Collaboration with colleagues is essential to ensure efficient production processes.

Your duties include completing inspection checklists before, during, and after operating mobile equipment and the crushing plant, reporting defects for proper addressing. Supportive teamwork, safety awareness, and site familiarity are crucial to maintaining safety standards.

The operation, inspection, and maintenance of static and mobile plant equipment for load and haul, processing, and materials handling should always prioritize safety and efficiency.

Maintain high standards of housekeeping to ensure safe and efficient working conditions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate plant and equipment safely according to site safety procedures (SOPs, Risk Assessments).
  • Report near misses and incidents.
  • Respond to and report breaches of environmental standards.
  • Understand the safety and quality implications of actions taken by yourself and others.
  • Assess team priorities considering changing circumstances.
  • Seek advice or assistance when needed to meet objectives.
  • Be a proactive team member within the quarry.
  • Understand the raw material process and its safety, environmental, and quality implications.
  • Demonstrate numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Possess heavy plant competence.
  • Assist other departments as appropriate.
