Job summary

Grundon Sand & Gravel is seeking a motivated individual to join our aggregates team at Kennetholme, with duties including operating mobile plant machinery safely, carrying out daily checks, and supporting weighbridge cover and site operations.

You will inspect loads, maintain high safety standards, and travel to other company sites as required. A Full UK driving licence and NVQ2 in mobile plant operation are desirable.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in mobile plant operation.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Good understanding of Health & Safety and willingness to undertake training.
• Flexible and adaptable with willingness to take on new tasks and hours.
• Good literacy, numeracy and IT skills, with attention to detail.
• Ability to work in a busy environment and support site operations.
• Willingness to learn site planning permissions and environmental permits.
• Proactive approach to continuous improvement, with ability to suggest improvements.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a range of mobile plant machinery in line with procedures and risk assessments.
• Complete daily plant inspections and defect reports and address issues promptly.
• Carry out routine daily checks and basic maintenance (oil, coolant).
• Inspect tyres, tracks, battery connections, and grease machinery per manufacturer requirements.
• Refuel machinery and keep vehicles clean and in good condition.
• Report incidents and near misses per company procedures.
• Wear company uniform and PPE at all times per H&S requirements.
• Provide weighbridge cover when required, delivering high service standards.
• Visually inspect loads to meet environmental permit requirements and Waste Transfer Note details.
• Be flexible with working hours, including overtime, and travel to other sites as needed.
