We are currently seeking a Quarry and Asphalt/ Concrete Plant Supervisor at our Shierglas site. We’re looking for a proactive, hands-on person to join our team. As a Supervisor, you’ll have the autonomy to run your own site and will play a key role in our concrete and asphalt production, ensuring the site operates smoothly to meet customer needs.

If successful, you’ll join a regional team and report to the Quarry Manager. The role involves working 48 hours a week, Monday to Friday, with occasional Saturday mornings, with some flexibility required to meet business demands.

Key Responsibilities

1. Responsible for daily running of concrete and asphalt plants
2. Reporting and closing safety observations
3. Monitoring stock levels and making decisions to maintain critical stocks
4. Reporting defects and ordering critical spares, fuels, and raw materials
5. Conducting finished goods stock counts
6. Managing staff to ensure production targets are met, basic maintenance is performed, and housekeeping is maintained in the quarry
7. Collaborating with other departments – Technical, Maintenance, etc.
8. Working with the sales office to ensure timely dispatch of orders and reporting issues or stock problems
9. Proactively managing quarry operations to prevent issues
10. Supervising visitors and contractors on site
11. Deputising for the Quarry Manager in their absence, including absence management

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience

1. Experience in similar roles or environments such as asphalt, aggregates, concrete, cement, quarrying, or mining
2. Hardworking, reliable, and professional with good communication skills
3. NVQ Wheeled Loading Shovel license is desirable; full training will be provided
4. Experience in health and safety management
