Job summary

Universal Quantum in England is seeking a Software Engineer to design, develop and maintain software components and user workflows of our modelling and simulation tools. You will join scientists and engineers to advance our design verification environment and streamline their workflows.

The role requires experience with Python, C/C++, and Rust, a strong mathematical background, HPC exposure and the ability to write clean, well-documented code while collaborating in a fast-paced startup setting.

Qualifications

• 5+ years delivering high-performance, commercial-quality models and simulation software in close collaboration with applied scientists.
• Strong mathematical and analytics background.
• Experience with modelling paradigms: EBM, DES, and statistical models.
• Designing, building and optimising simulation platforms for scientific applications.
• Experience with HPC, hardware acceleration, and parallelisation.
• Polyglot with Python and at least one of C/C++ or Rust.
• Readable, dependable, efficient, well-documented code.
• Experience in startups or fast-paced environments.

Responsibilities

• Join our team of scientists and engineers designing the next generation of design verification environment.
• Take ownership of key components in the modelling and simulation pipeline and optimise workflows.
• Write provable, reliable, well-documented software.
• Build intuitive tools and libraries used by internal and external teams.
• Support testing, optimisation, validation of models and simulations; deploy to HPC and cloud servers.
• Develop deep understanding of trade-offs across physics models, chips, algorithms and hardware.
