Job description

As a Quantum Engineer you will be helping to unlock new performance levels from our quantum processors both in the UK and US. In your daily work, you will design and execute experiments to calibrate and improve dispersive readout and qubit reset performance, perform measurements and data analysis, and propose new experimental solutions to improve device performance. You will work cross-functionally with a diverse set of engineers and scientists, with expertise spanning cryogenics, device design and fabrication, RF electronics, and software development, to identify limitations and develop a set of tools to improve calibration of readout performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Independently design and execute experimental programs to develop qubit readout and reset calibrations
  • Identify and address complex gaps in existing technology through collaborative work with cross-functional teams
  • Define and test new pulse schemes, developing tooling such as investigation into pulse shaping
About You
  • A Ph. D. in experimental physics
  • A demonstrated expertise in experimental problem solving and experimental research
  • Experience with superconducting technologies, especially dispersive readout
  • Ability to focus on defined goals and quickly adapt a plan in view of new data
  • Strong coding skills, especially strong experience with Python
  • Enjoys teamwork and inter-team collaboration
  • Track record of meaningful accomplishments in quantum science or related fields
Nice to Have
  • Experience with superconducting quantum devices, time-domain measurements, single- and two-qubit gates
  • Hands on experience with cryogenic systems and measurements
  • Command of RF measurement techniques
  • Prior technical role in an industry or start-up environment
  • Prior experience on R&D with a focus on product development
£65,000 - £90,000 a year

Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate’s relevant work experience, skills, and geographic location.
