Quantum Consultant Manager job vacancy within the Quantum Expert division of a prestigious, Central London based Construction Consultancy.

As Quantum Consultant Manager, you will work within the specialist construction Quantum disputes team, primarily on high-value international arbitration cases.

The successful candidate will have previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor and will have transitioned into a dispute-related role involving construction disputes and Expert Witness services for several years.

Responsibilities and Duties

The specific duties will vary depending on each dispute, but this is a middle management position where you will support the lead expert and gain exposure to learning opportunities in a lead assistant role. You should be able to support junior team members when needed. Exact duties include:

  • Preparing and assisting in testimony and reports for experts and legal counsel.
  • Supporting the Quantum Expert Witness in providing analytical expert opinions, reports, and joint statements for dispute resolution.
  • Drafting detailed reports on costs and claims in major disputes.
  • Assisting with quantum analysis in International Court of Arbitration (ICC) cases, including analysis of design changes and increased costs.
  • Reviewing data meticulously to analyze disputes in infrastructure projects under ICC arbitration.
  • Conducting quantum analysis in ICC arbitration for major infrastructure projects, under guidance.
  • Liaising with internal and external parties to gather information and documentation.
  • Supporting junior staff members.

  • Experience in writing and drafting quantum reports related to arbitration.
  • Background in Quantity Surveying, ideally with major reputable employers and large projects.
  • Methodical and analytical approach to tasks.
  • Meticulous and thorough work ethic.

  • Genuine passion to progress in the expert witness sector.
  • Willingness to perform data research and present analysis results.
  • Prepared to present reports and undergo internal cross-examination.

Qualifications/Educational Requirements

  • Relevant RICS Chartership.
  • 2–5 years’ experience with a reputable contractor or PQS in Quantity Surveying or Senior Quantity Surveying roles, from building or civil backgrounds.
  • Experience with construction disputes, arbitration, adjudication, or high-level claims work in a disputes consultancy.
  • Degree qualification in a relevant subject or equivalent.
  • Ideally working towards or holding an MSc or LLM in Construction Law.
