Job description

Job Title: Utilities Quantity Surveyor (QS)


About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Utilities Quantity Surveyor to join our team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in managing the financial and contractual aspects of utility projects, ensuring cost-effectiveness and adherence to industry standards.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare, manage, and review cost estimates, budgets, and financial reports for utility projects.
  2. Conduct cost analysis and provide accurate forecasting to support project planning.
  3. Manage contract administration, including variations, claims, and final accounts.
  4. Liaise with clients, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure smooth project delivery.
  5. Carry out risk assessments and provide commercial advice to the project team.
  6. Ensure compliance with industry regulations and company procedures.
  7. Assist in procurement, tendering, and subcontractor negotiations.
  8. Monitor project progress, track costs, and report any discrepancies.
  9. Support the resolution of disputes and financial claims.

Key Requirements:

  1. Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, preferably within the utilities sector (water, gas, electricity, or telecoms).
  2. Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
  3. Strong knowledge of NEC and JCT contracts.
  4. Excellent analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  5. Proficiency in cost estimation software and MS Office Suite.
  6. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  7. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  8. Full UK driving licence (preferred).
