Additional Benefits

The Company

My client is an East Midlands based independent construction contractor with longstanding customer relationships stretching back over two decades. These projects consist of New Builds and Refurbishments, primarily in the residential and commercial sectors, carried out on a Design & Build basis.

The Quantity Surveyor Role

Initially, you will be working on a variety of projects valued from approximately £3m to £8m, based in the East Midlands, Yorkshire, and North West regions. You will be responsible for all the financial aspects of the project, working on the pre-construction phase of tenders and then taking the project through to site delivery. You will work closely with the MQS and Commercial Manager, as well as the client and site team, sometimes autonomously. Your active knowledge sharing and quick resolution of issues will contribute significantly to the successful running of these projects.

Here's what you'll be doing:

  • Leading commercially in tender and project meetings
  • Preparing and monitoring bid package tender schedules and reporting against the cost plan where required
  • Preparing, submitting, and agreeing on monthly cost reports and collating information from other Project/Assistant surveyors as necessary
  • Managing risk & cash flow

The Successful Quantity Surveyors:

  • Experience in most of the above roles & responsibilities
  • Degree qualified or NVQ, BTEC, or Higher National diploma
  • 5-10 years full-time experience in a surveying role with a reputable main/principal contractor
  • Good understanding of JCT forms of contract & contract law
  • Proficiency in Word and Excel
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
