Job summary

Gibson Recruitment Limited is seeking a Quantity Surveyor for a permanent role based in Glasgow. The successful candidate will have extensive NEC contract experience and a background with building contractors, delivering projects up to £25m in the commercial sector.

You will analyse drawings, prepare enquiries, negotiate with suppliers, manage costs, and coordinate site information to ensure profitable project outcomes. Salary £45,000–£60,000 DOE. Ref: GR1482.

Qualifications

• NEC form of contract experience is essential.
• Experience working for a Building Contractor.
• Strong IT skills including Excel and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Analyse drawings and specifications to identify labour, material and subcontractor requirements.
• Prepare enquiry documents and obtain quotations, including final negotiations and orders.
• Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to manage budgets.
• Collate and coordinate information from site surveys.
• Liaise with clients to agree rates, variations and cost analysis.
• Measure works as per contract schedule of rates.
• Prepare and submit interim valuations and final accounts within timescales.
• Support cost management to deliver a profitable project.
• Provide monthly management and client progress reports.
• Attend Site Progress Meetings.

Responsibilities

• Analyse construction drawings and specifications to identify labour, material, and specialist requirements.
• Preparation of enquiry documents, sourcing and obtaining material and subcontractor quotations including final negotiations and orders.
• Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors on a regular basis to ensure budgets are not exceeded.
• Collate and coordinate information from site surveys.
• Liaise with clients to agree rates/variations and cost analysis.
• Measure works as per contract specific schedule of rates.
• Preparation and submission of interim valuations and final accounts within the agreed timescales.
• Working closely with Management and Accounts to ensure accurate and vigorous cost management of the project to deliver a profitable outcome.
• Provide accurate and robust monthly reports for Management and Client Progress Meetings.
• Attend and participate in Site Progress Meetings.

The Successful Candidate Will Possess

• Degree in Quantity Surveying.
• Fully conversant with NEC form of contract.
• Demonstrable experience working for another Building Contractor.
• IT proficient with Microsoft Packages, including Microsoft Excel.
