Job summary

Vulcain Engineering is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join the Middlesbrough project delivery team. You will support commercial management of subcontract packages from award through final account on large-scale engineering and energy projects.

The role involves cost control, valuations, cost reporting, forecasting, and change management within NEC3/NEC4 environments, collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver successful projects.

Qualifications

• Degree, HND, HNC or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction Management or a related discipline.
• Previous Quantity Surveying or commercial experience within construction, infrastructure, energy, utilities or industrial projects.
• Experience working under NEC3 and/or NEC4 contracts.
• Exposure to subcontract management, valuations, applications for payment, cost reporting, forecasting, final accounts or change management.
• Knowledge of compensation events, variations, claims, target cost, contract administration or commercial reporting would be advantageous.
• Experience working within energy, power generation, industrial construction, oil & gas, petrochemical, infrastructure, utilities or EPC/EPCM environments.
• Knowledge of E&I, Mechanical, piping, steelwork, scaffolding or other construction packages would be beneficial but is not essential.
• Strong communication, organisation, stakeholder management and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Supporting the commercial management of subcontract and construction work packages throughout the project lifecycle.
• Assisting with applications for payment, valuations, interim accounts and final accounts.
• Supporting cost control, cost reporting, forecasting and commercial performance monitoring.
• Assisting with the management of variations, compensation events, change control and contractual changes.
• Working closely with engineering, construction, project controls and delivery teams to ensure commercial compliance.
• Maintaining accurate commercial records, contractual documentation and project correspondence.
• Identifying commercial risks and opportunities and supporting mitigation and recovery strategies.
• Contributing to commercial reviews, reporting and stakeholder engagement activities.
