Job summary

Energy Jobline CVL is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to support social housing refurbishment programmes across East London and Essex. The role focuses on delivering Decent Homes projects, with responsibilities for budgets, valuations, variations and final accounts.

The successful candidate will manage subcontractor procurement, payments, cost reporting, and commercial risk while working closely with operational teams and housing associations to ensure value and compliance.

Qualifications

• Previous Quantity Surveying experience within social housing, refurbishment or planned maintenance.
• Experience delivering Decent Homes programmes.
• Experience across void and tenanted properties.
• Knowledge of kitchen, bathroom and external refurbishment works.

Responsibilities

• Manage the commercial performance of social housing refurbishment projects.
• Take responsibility for budgets, valuations, variations, payments and final accounts.
• Manage subcontractor procurement, accounts and payments.
• Prepare and submit valuations and applications for payment.
• Monitor project costs, forecasts and cash flow.
• Manage variations and ensure all changes are properly valued and agreed.
• Produce regular commercial reports and cost/value reconciliations.
• Work closely with operational teams to ensure projects are commercially controlled.
• Liaise with clients and housing associations regarding commercial matters.
• Support the preparation and agreement of final accounts.
• Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities.
• Ensure contractual and commercial procedures are followed throughout the project lifecycle.

Quantity Surveyor – East London & Essex

Location: East London & Essex
Sector: Social Housing / Refurbishment
Salary: Up to £70,000 + Package

A well-established refurbishment contractor is looking to recruit an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team, supporting social housing refurbishment programmes across East London and Essex.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in social housing, refurbishment or planned maintenance, ideally with experience delivering Decent Homes programmes across both void and tenanted properties.

About You

• Experience managing valuations, variations, payments and final accounts.
• Good commercial and contractual knowledge.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Strong IT and Excel skills.
• A relevant Quantity Surveying qualification or equivalent experience.
