Job description

Title: Quantity Surveyor

Location: South Wales - Swansea to Cardiff

Salary: 40,000 to 60,000 + 5k car allowance + package

Sector: New build, Refurb, Residential & Commercial

Start Date: ASAP

Quantity Surveyor - The Company:

Our client is a successful main contractor specialising in residential and commercial sectors with an established reputation within the South Wales market and beyond. Typical projects include medium to large-scale social housing new builds with associated buildings, as well as commercial refurbishment and new build projects.

Quantity Surveyor - The Role:

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join the regional commercial team at QS and SQS levels. You will be responsible for leading the day-to-day commercial aspects of new build and refurbishment projects across sectors. This position reports to a Managing QS.

Typical duties & responsibilities:
  • Ensure optimum commercial return is achieved for the project.
  • Prepare accurate cost/value reconciliation reports.
  • Prepare and agree interim valuations at scheduled dates to maximize commercial advantage.
  • Agree final accounts with subcontractors to maximize project margins.
  • Prepare subcontract orders in accordance with company procedures and project schedules.
  • Maintain control of subcontractor accounts and minimize variation costs.
  • Manage subcontracts in terms of valuation and correspondence.
  • Perform duties as quantity surveyor on assigned projects.
  • Ensure optimum commercial return for projects under your control.
  • Prepare or assist with monthly cost/value reconciliation reports, forecasting final financial positions.
  • Prepare turnover cash flow forecasts, updating as necessary and recording actual valuations against forecasts.
Quantity Surveyor - The Person:
  • Solid experience with either a national or regional main contractor.
  • Proven track record in delivering residential and non-residential projects within budget and schedule.
  • Experience in managing junior quantity surveyors is desirable but not essential.
  • Innovative with the ability to identify improvements.
  • A good team player eager to contribute to a growing business.
  • Commutable to Cardiff or Swansea with willingness to travel to projects.
