An established and growing Groundworks & Civil Engineering Contractor is looking to appoint a Quantity Surveyor / Estimator to join its commercial team based in Ringwood, Hampshire.
With a strong reputation for delivering residential groundworks and civil engineering projects, the business continues to secure new work across the South of England. The Role Reporting to the Commercial Director, you'll play a key role in both the commercial and pre-construction functions of the business.
The role will involve carrying out quantity surveying and estimating duties across residential groundworks and civil engineering projects, working closely with the commercial, procurement and operational teams to ensure projects are delivered successfully from tender through to final account.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare competitive tenders and cost estimates for residential groundworks and civil engineering projects.
- Assist with the preparation, submission and negotiation of tenders.
- Manage project costs, forecasts and commercial reporting.
- Prepare, submit and agree project variations and contractual changes.
- Monitor project profitability and prepare accurate cost reports.
- Ensure contractual obligations are understood and managed throughout the project lifecycle.
- Work closely with procurement and site management teams.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and suppliers.

About You
You'll be an experienced Quantity Surveyor, Estimator, with a background in UK residential groundworks or civil engineering.
You'll have a strong commercial mindset, excellent analytical skills and be confident managing both estimating and quantity surveying responsibilities.
We're keen to speak with candidates who have:
- A minimum of three years' experience within UK residential groundworks or civil engineering.
- Experience in both Quantity Surveying and Estimating.
- A strong understanding of contracts, cost management and commercial reporting.
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word skills.
- Experience using Bluebeam or similar construction software.
