Job summary

Catering in Taunton, Somerset is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to lead commercial delivery on a major 5-year capital programme for South West Water. You will own a portfolio of water infrastructure projects within a respected civil engineering team.

Key duties include NEC contract administration, cost forecasting, and CVR reporting, plus procurement and management of subcontractors. You will support operations, maximise profitability and mentor a Graduate Quantity Surveyor.

Quantity Surveyor – Water Infrastructure
Taunton, Somerset
£46,000 – £60,000 + £5,000 Car Allowance + Package

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Quantity Surveyor to join a leading infrastructure contractor delivering a major 5-year capital delivery programme for South West Water across Somerset.

This role offers the chance to take commercial ownership of a varied portfolio of water infrastructure projects whilst working within a well-established and growing civil engineering business with a strong reputation in the utilities sector.

Working closely with operational teams, the successful Quantity Surveyor will manage projects through the full commercial lifecycle – from procurement and subcontract management through to final account – with a strong emphasis on NEC contract administration, commercial performance, and client engagement.

This is an ideal opportunity for a commercially driven QS who enjoys managing multiple schemes in a fast-paced environment and is looking to progress their career within a long-term framework.

The Role

As Quantity Surveyor, your responsibilities will include:

About You

• Experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within infrastructure, utilities, water, or civil engineering
• Strong working knowledge of the NEC suite of contracts
• Experience managing multiple projects concurrently
• Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills
• The ability to work collaboratively within project and client-facing environments
• A proactive and organised approach to commercial management
