Job summary

Mercury Hampton Ltd, a specialist subcontractor, is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to manage the day-to-day commercial aspects of projects. The role involves overseeing interim valuations, variations and final accounts within a façades/building envelope environment.

You will work with the Commercial Manager and site teams to deliver cost control, subcontract administration and robust reporting. The role supports travel between Southam and West London with hybrid working options.

Qualifications

• Experience as a QS in a specialist subcontractor environment.
• Experience with valuations, variations, cost management and final accounts.
• Knowledge of JCT and/or NEC subcontract environments.
• Relevant Quantity Surveying qualification or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly valuations and payment applications.
• Assess, price and submit variations and change control.
• Manage subcontract orders and final accounts.
• Produce cost reports, cash-flow forecasts and costs-to-complete.
• Monitor project margins and identify commercial risk.
• Remake measurements and manage scope changes.
• Handle commercial correspondence and notices.

Quantity Surveyor – Specialist Subcontractor

Salary: Up to £65,000 + £5,000 car allowance
Location: Southam / West London / Hybrid

An established specialist contractor is looking to appoint a Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial management of projects across its growing portfolio.

This is an opportunity for a commercially capable QS with experience working for a specialist subcontractor to take responsibility for projects from interim valuations through to final account.

The Role

You will work closely with the Commercial Manager and operational teams, taking responsibility for the day-to-day commercial management of allocated projects.

Responsibilities will include:

• Preparing monthly valuations and applications for payment
• Assessing, pricing and submitting variations
• Managing change control and maintaining supporting commercial records
• Preparing and managing subcontract orders
• Assessing subcontractor applications and final accounts
• Producing cost reports, cash-flow forecasts and costs-to-complete
• Monitoring project margins and identifying commercial risk
• Remeasuring works and identifying changes in scope
• Managing commercial correspondence and contractual notices
• Supporting project final accounts

The Candidate

You should have previous Quantity Surveying experience within a specialist subcontracting business.

Experience within façades, cladding, curtain walling, glazing or building envelope would be advantageous, but candidates from other specialist subcontracting sectors will also be considered.

You will need practical experience of valuations, variations, cost management and final accounts, together with working knowledge of JCT and/or NEC subcontract environments.

A relevant higher-education Quantity Surveying qualification or equivalent is essential.

Working Arrangement

The expected working pattern is approximately two days per week in Southam, two days on a West London project and one day working from home.

Candidates therefore need to be comfortable travelling regularly between both locations.
