Job summary

Sunny Recruitment is assisting a Pembrokeshire-based civil engineering contractor to recruit a Quantity Surveyor / Estimator. The role combines estimating and surveying responsibilities across live projects, offering autonomy and opportunity for development.

The ideal candidate has experience in valuations and cost management, with strong commercial awareness and solid communication skills. A degree or equivalent in QS is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Previous construction estimating and/or quantity surveying experience.
• Experience producing valuations and applications for payment.
• Good understanding of variations, construction costs and cost management.
• Ability to undertake site measures.
• Strong commercial awareness with good communication and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare tenders and estimates from initial enquiry through to submission.
• Review drawings, specifications and tender information.
• Produce material and labour take offs.
• Obtain and analyse subcontractor and supplier quotations.
• Carry out site measures and prepare valuations.
• Prepare applications for payment and interim valuations.
• Price and agree variations.
• Place subcontractor orders and manage accounts.
• Monitor project costs, progress and overall commercial performance.
• Identify commercial risks and opportunities.
• Support contract administration and final accounts.
• Build effective relationships with clients, consultants and subcontractors.

Quantity Surveyor / Estimator

Location: Pembrokeshire

HOURS: Full time, Monday - Friday

Type: Staff role

Salary range: £35,000 - £50,000 depending on experience

Our client: Our client, an established civil engineering contractor based in Pembrokeshire, is looking for a Quantity Surveyor / Estimator to join their commercial team due to continued growth.

The role:

This is a varied role combining estimating and quantity surveying, giving you involvement from initial tender stage through to the commercial management and final account of live projects.

The role would suit an experienced Quantity Surveyor / Estimator looking for autonomy and responsibility, however our client is also open to considering a more junior candidate with the right construction background, attitude and potential. Full support and development will be available.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare tenders and estimates from initial enquiry through to submission.
• Review drawings, specifications and tender information.

What is required from you:

• Previous construction estimating and/or quantity surveying experience.
• Experience producing valuations and applications for payment.
• Good understanding of variations, construction costs and cost management.
• Ability to undertake site measures.
• Strong commercial awareness with good communication and organisational skills.
• Experience within civil engineering, structural refurbishment, repair or specialist construction would be advantageous.
• Petrochemical or renewable industry experience would be beneficial.
• HNC/HND or degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction or a related discipline would be advantageous.
• Experience using estimating or commercial software and Excel would be beneficial.
• Working towards a professional qualification or an interest in further development would be welcomed.
