Job summary

Skilled Careers are recruiting a commercially minded Quantity Surveyor to join a main contractor on a brand-new education project in Hertfordshire, offering a clear progression path. You’ll take ownership of the commercial duties on a high-profile scheme, working in a close-knit team of three.

Your responsibilities include procurement, cost control, cost forecasting, valuations and final accounts, plus managing subcontract procurement and payments, while keeping rigorous commercial reporting.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within a main contractor environment.
• Experience on new-build construction projects.
• Strong commercial awareness and cost control understanding.
• Ability to manage subcontractors, valuations, variations and final accounts.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Managing the commercial aspects of a new-build education project from procurement through to final account.
• Monitoring project costs, budgets, forecasts and financial performance.
• Managing subcontract procurement, valuations, variations and payments.
• Preparing and maintaining accurate commercial reports and cost forecasts.
• Identifying and managing commercial risks and opportunities to protect project profitability.
• Working closely with project managers, site teams, clients and supply chain partners.
• Ensuring contractual obligations and commercial processes are followed throughout the project lifecycle.
• Supporting the successful delivery of the scheme while maintaining strong commercial control.
