Job summary

NES Group Ltd is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join the growing commercial team in Aberdeen. You will manage commercial aspects from tender through final account, ensuring budgets are controlled, risks managed and projects delivered on time and to scope.

The role offers exposure to a varied project portfolio, working with clients, suppliers and subcontractors, and requires strong cost control and communication skills to maintain commercial success.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in Quantity Surveying or related field.
• Demonstrable experience in the construction sector.
• Understanding of commercial management principles and cost control processes.
• Experience with procurement methods and project delivery models.
• Knowledge of standard contracts and contractual procedures.
• Proven experience taking projects from tender stage through to final account.
• Ability to prepare cost estimates, valuations and commercial reports.
• Experience liaising with clients, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Prepare budget estimates and project forecasts.
• Review project documents and specifications to understand requirements.
• Develop accurate cost estimates and pricing submissions.
• Support procurement activities and advise on procurement strategies.
• Prepare tender documents, subcontract packages and commercial information.
• Obtain and analyse supplier/subcontractor quotations for value for money.
• Monitor expenditure and manage variations throughout the project lifecycle.
• Produce regular commercial reports, including cost forecasts and margin analysis.
• Assist with cash flow forecasting and financial planning.
• Prepare and agree interim valuations and applications for payment.
• Negotiate final accounts with clients and subcontractors.
• Conduct site visits and measurements when required.
• Provide commercial guidance to project teams.
• Monitor contractual obligations and ensure compliance with agreements.
• Assist in supplier selection and performance management.
• Support invoicing and debt management processes.
• Maintain accurate project cost data and records.
• Collaborate with operations to meet commercial objectives.
• Contribute to continuous improvement within the function.
• Ensure health, safety and environmental considerations are integrated.
