Job summary

Linear Recruitment is seeking Quantity Surveyors for a varied pipeline in County Durham. Roles range from Assistant Quantity Surveyor to Quantity Surveyor, with opportunities across new-build and refurbishment projects in a main contractor environment.

The successful candidates will support commercial management from inception to completion, control costs, prepare estimates and manage subcontractors, while developing their careers in a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Experience in a Quantity Surveying or Assistant Quantity Surveying role within the construction industry.
• Experience working for a main contractor or within a similar contracting environment.
• Good understanding of construction contracts, commercial processes and cost management.
• Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and organisational abilities.
• Good attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities.
• Proficiency using Microsoft Office and construction-related commercial systems.
• Proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
• A relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with or managing the commercial aspects of new-build and refurbishment projects, depending on experience.
• Monitoring project costs, budgets and expenditure to ensure schemes are delivered within targets.
• Preparing and reviewing cost estimates, valuations and financial reports.
• Managing subcontractor procurement, payments and variations.
• Reviewing contractual documentation and managing commercial risks.
• Liaising with clients, subcontractors, suppliers and internal teams to maintain relationships.
• Identifying commercial opportunities and supporting value for money.
• Maintaining accurate commercial records and timely documentation.
• Supporting the wider team to achieve cost, quality and programme objectives.
