The role

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, ambitious Quantity Surveyor to join our team in Newcastle upon Tyne on a permanent basis. As a Quantity Surveyor, you will operate independently in your project role, taking ownership of contractual elements allocated to you.

The successful candidate will work on a variety of construction projects, providing cost control advice to design teams and clients, ensuring informed decisions supported by accurate data. Typical project valuations range from £1M to £80M.

This role is well suited to an individual excited by the prospect of growing this offering within the business. It provides opportunities for personal development and the expansion of our cost consultancy services, with potential shareholding opportunities in the future.

Key roles and responsibilities:

  1. Provide timely advice to clients and project teams
  2. Preparation and analysis of budgets and cost plans
  3. Cost management: prepare, validate, and agree on interim valuations and final accounts; prepare monthly reports; complete savings reports for internal records
  4. Risk management
  5. Estimating
  6. Contract change control
  7. Attending and leading contract meetings
  8. Collaborate with the SLT to grow this element of the business

About you

  • Qualified as a Quantity Surveyor with at least 5 years of post-graduate experience
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Good knowledge of construction contracts, particularly JCT Form of Contract
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships quickly with colleagues and clients
