Linsco are delighted to be working alongside our client, a well-established regional main contractor with over 30 years' experience delivering projects across the building, civil engineering and structural steel sectors. Operating throughout Yorkshire, the Midlands and the North East, they have built a strong reputation for successfully delivering high-quality construction, infrastructure and public sector projects.

With a strong annual turnover, a growing order book and several long-term local authority and infrastructure framework agreements in place, they are now looking to appoint an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their Civils & Build division.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially astute Quantity Surveyor with a background in civil engineering and infrastructure projects to join a growing business with a secure pipeline of work across local authority frameworks, highways improvements, public realm schemes, drainage and wider civil engineering projects.

The Role

Working closely with the Managing QS and wider commercial team, you will take responsibility for the commercial management of projects ranging from £1m - £15m across a variety of civil engineering and infrastructure schemes.

Projects are likely to include highways improvements, Section 278 works, public realm developments, drainage and infrastructure works, local authority schemes and other framework-delivered projects.

Duties will include:
  • Managing the commercial aspects of projects from pre-construction through to final account.
  • Procuring and managing subcontract packages.
  • Preparing, reviewing and negotiating subcontract agreements.
  • Producing accurate cost reports, forecasts and cash flow projections.
  • Preparing client applications for payment and managing valuations.
  • Pricing, managing and negotiating variations.
  • Reviewing and assessing subcontractor applications and final accounts.
  • Administering NEC3 and NEC4 contracts, including compensation events and early warning procedures.
  • Identifying commercial risks and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Maintaining strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and supply chain partners.
  • Working closely with operational teams to ensure projects are delivered on budget and maximise profitability.
  • Attending site meetings and carrying out site visits as required.
  • Supporting the successful delivery of projects under local authority and framework contracts.

The role will involve a mixture of office and site-based working, providing regular exposure to live projects and key stakeholders.

About You
  • Previous experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within the civil engineering, infrastructure or highways sectors.
  • Strong understanding and practical experience administering NEC3 and/or NEC4 contracts.
  • Experience delivering highways, public realm, drainage, infrastructure or Section 278 projects.
  • Experience working on local authority frameworks and public sector contracts would be highly advantageous.
  • Experience managing subcontract procurement, valuations, variations and final accounts.
  • Strong commercial awareness and financial management skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with clients, subcontractors and project teams.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related construction discipline.
What's on Offer
  • Opportunity to join a growing and financially stable regional contractor.
  • Secure pipeline of work through long-term local authority and infrastructure frameworks.
  • Exposure to a diverse range of highways, public realm and civil engineering projects.
  • Excellent support from an experienced commercial leadership team.
  • Genuine long-term career progression opportunities.
  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
  • Strong team culture within a family-owned contractor environment.

Linsco is an equal opportunities employer. All applicants will be considered on their merits regardless of background, characteristics or personal circumstances. All applications will be dealt with in the strictest confidence.
